NOVEMBER UPDATE!
(DECEMBER UPDATE HERE)
Robinson Lumber has located the LAST of their displaced employees. Sammie Townsend has been located with family in Crowley LA. Mr. Townsend will soon join the Robinson Team at Lisco, in Chalmette, LA. We welcome him back!
A Big Thank You!
The RLCHKRF has received a tremendous immediate response to our plea.
As of early October,
we have received almost $40,000.00 plus pledges for more!
Donations have come from friends, industry customers and suppliers in the US and from around the world, including Holland, France, Germany, Italy, UK, China and Greece. Thanks to some of you, donations have arrived from generous people previously not known to us!
A Great Example! And A Big Thank YOU!
Frank Miller Lumber Company, of Union City, Indiana, received our plea for help, and immediately made their employees aware of the problem. The response was astounding. Managers organized a collection, including cash from yard workers wanting to help others in the lumber business. The company matched the donations collected to reach the sum of almost $5,000.00! Way to go!
100% of Funds will go to the families affected.
All of the funds collected (100%) will go directly to help rebuild these affected families. There will be no administrative fees of any kind. Accounting records of fund disbursement will be available to contributors on request.
You Can Help !
Any donation, large or small is appreciated. Remember, this is wood people helping wood people! Many of these affected workers had no flood insurance, all have needs beyond what salary and government aid can provide them.
Our Party Got Cancelled... But
Robinson Lumber has decided to use the money set aside for the NHLA Swamp Fest Extravaganza on September 16, 2005, and to add this money to your donations to the RLCHKRF.
So...
We would like to make a distribution to the affected families for the Thanksgiving Holiday. There is no way this will be a normal Thanksgiving for them, thanks to Katrina, but we can all make it a better one for the affected families in the wood industry. Please help!
